Kate interviews an author who wrote a current book about the life and times of a notable master of ceremonies and journalist, Ed Sullivan. The author, Bernie Ilson, wrote "Sundays with Sullivan: How The Ed Sullivan Show Brought Elvis, The Jackson Five (the late Michael Jackson as lead singer), The Beatles, and Culture to America" as his doctoral thesis. He worked as Ed Sullivan's key publicist, helping to get great acts for Sullivan's "Really Big Show" in New York. The book has great insider scoops about how the show became so very successful, about the acts, about Elvis Presley, the Beatles, and Topo Gigio. Every Baby Boomer in America sat with parents and family members to watch The Ed Sullivan Show during the 50s and continuing for more than 20 years. Tune in to the fun. Listen Sunday afternoons at 4 PM for the WordSmitten "About the Books" broadcast. www.wordsmitten.com www.twitter.com/wordsmitten www.meetup.com/wordsmitten [writing workshops] www.blogtalkradio.com/wordsmitten
