My Guests this Thursday, February 21st at 3 p.m. PST on MetalSmith BenchTalk are Paul McClure and Melanie Egan, the co-chairs of Meta Mosaic- the 2013 conference of SNAG, the Society of North American Goldsmiths, which will take place in Toronto, Canada this May 15–18.
 
About: Melanie Egan has been actively involved with the field of contemporary craft for over 25 years. She is Head of the Craft Department at Harbourfront Centre and responsible for artistic and organizational direction. Egan, a curator and lecturer, manages the only artist-in-residence program of its kind in Canada for Jewellery, Glass, Ceramics and Textiles at Harbourfront Centre. She co-edited the book Crafting New Traditions: Canadian Innovators and Influences with Alan C. Elder and Jean Johnson.
 
Paul McClure has been a studio jeweller and educator for over twenty years. His work is represented in private and public collections including The Canadian Museum of Civilization; The Barcelona Museum of Decorative Arts; and The National Museums of Scotland. As well as maintaining a private studio practice, McClure has published articles on the subject of contemporary craft and works as a craft and design curator in the McClure & Egan curatorial partnership. Since 2005 he has been the Adviser in Jewellery/Metals for the Harbourfront Centre Craft Studios. McClure has taught at NSCAD University, Ontario College of Art and Design and, for the past ten years, has been professor in Jewellery Studies at George Brown College in Toronto.
