On the January 21st program, I am delighted to speak with Michael David Sturlin. Michael David Sturlin is a renowned studio jewelry artist, educator, consultant, and an award winning goldsmith whose work is widely published and displayed in select galleries throughout North America. His minimalist jewelry has been recognized by the World Gold Council, the American Jewelry Design Council, and the Jewelers of America New Designers Gallery. Michael is on the faculty of the Revere Academy of Jewelry Arts in San Francisco and is a member of the Society of North American Goldsmiths, and the Metal Arts Guild of Canada. A popular visiting guest artist and conference presenter, Michael has taught workshops at 30 venues in the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Michael is the author of the Metalsmithing 101 column in Art Jewelry Magazine, and his contributions on marketing, pricing, promotion, and publicity can be found in publications of AJM, MJSA Journal, Crafts Business, Jewelry Artist as well as in the book Profiting by Design. He is a featured artist in the book Masters:Gold highlighting 42 of the most innovative goldsmiths of the current era. His work is also profiled in the soon to be released book Good Bones: The Elements and Principles of Design for Jewelry Makers. After 40 years at the bench in a professional practice, Michael now devotes his time to sharing his insight and expertise with students at every level, from beginners to highly accomplished professionals.
