Join Wayne Bradley with Guest Rick Snyder as we discuss how to Fix Michigan. A proud, native Michigander, Rick is running for Governor because he believes it’s time for a leader with a strong entrepreneurial background to bring a fresh approach and take this state in a new direction. He wants to reinvent Michigan, restore hope to people, and overcome today’s challenges with long-term solutions so that Michigan can move into an era of innovation. . From 1991 to 1997, Rick served as Executive Vice President—and then President and COO—of Gateway, Inc. During his tenure at Gateway, the company grew from a privately-held $600 million company with less than 1,000 employees, to a publicly-traded (NYSE) Fortune 500 company with revenues in excess of $6 billion and over 10,000 employees. In 1997, Rick left Gateway and returned home to Michigan so that he could utilize his experience to reinvigorate the Michigan economy and raise his family here. He invested back into his home state by founding Avalon Investments, Inc., a venture-capital firm focused on new technology. Over three years, Avalon invested in 24 companies in Michigan and around the United States. A With Michigan’s economy continuing its downward spiral, unemployment soaring, young people abandoning the state, and the failure of career politicians in Lansing, Rick has decided it’s time to offer the state his leadership. After traveling Michigan for several months on a listening tour, Rick announced his candidacy for Governor on July 21st and is sharing his positive vision, developing long-term solutions and encouraging people to join him in his effort to reinvent Michigan and begin an era of innovation.
