Welcome to Business Black Belt Radio!

Each week I interview an investor, an expert in business development, financing, marketing or management, or an entrepreneur who offers some keen insights into building your business...

Bryan Bloom of Bloom Squared LLC is a private equity company that currently invests in opportunities related to the horse racing industry. Headquartered in San Diego, California, Bryan has been an entrepreneur, business manager and investor in a variety of businesses since 1985.

Equity investments are made as acquisitions, joint ventures, and early stage venture capital. Typical factors considered for investments include businesses that are under-performing, undervalued, or have unrecognized potential. They also look for opportunities where we can leverage their strengths via arbitrage, timing, or where a large untapped market exists.

Bloom Squared is also building a portfolio of opportunities where little or no investment is required. Due to Bloom Squared's industry prominence, they are also looking for deals that include management fees, partnership revenue sharing, and other income sources.

  1. How do you determine if an entrepreneur is a good bet?
  2. What do you do to get a reality check on the value of the deal?
  3. What compels you to write a check sooner than later?
  4. Besides an acquisition or IPO, how do figure an exit?
  5. Equity crowdfunding... waddaythink?
