HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARCELA OLIVAR!

The Real Roxanne, nee’ Adelaida Martinez, was the specific lady that the three gentlemen of U.T.F.O.; Kangol Kid, the Educated Rapper, also known as E.M.D., and Doctor Ice, were talking greasy about when they dropped their classic ‘80’s hit, ‘Roxanne, Roxanne,’ produced by Full Force which sparked the, then controversial, now legendary, “Roxanne Wars.”

After dropping a pair of mediocre selling solo albums, her self-titled debut {1988} and its’ follow-up, Go Down (But Don't Bite It), in ’92, on Select Records.

Joe "Funhouse" Celestine, of the original New York Funhouse will also join us.  FunHouse opened up on March 30, 1979 by 4 partners - Joe, Ronnie, Jerry & Vinnie.  The Funhouse was a popular 1980s club on Manhattan's West side that became a way of life for many in NYC and the surrounding boros.  DJ John "Jellybean" Benitez made this his home with his unique style as a DJ while he dated Madonna, and yes, this is where Madonna started her carreer, along with other legendary artists such as New Edition.  One of the Village People even got married there. The club became very famous. It was included in many articles about disco and the dance scene.
There are many people who loved and still love this legendary club... With it's famous happy clown logo. Numerous of people have it as a precious part of their life and many have great stories to tell about the club and the people frequenting it. Some memories you'll find below and I guess there's more to come...  Phone lines wll be open to the public.. (347) 215-7698
