In the book of Revelation chapter 3, we find the church at Laodicea in a state of lukewarmness, spiritual blindness, poverty and wretchedness. The Lord Jesus Christ rebukes this church, but leaves them with hope by telling them:
vs 19: As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
The fact that the Lord seeks us out, visits us, and reveals where and how we are straying from Him is a blessing. The Lord is the perfect parent, and we have to understand that the Lord has to discipline us sharply at times to get our attention, and to prevent us from spiritual disaster. . As a matter of fact we should rejoice when the Lord does rebuke and chasten us, because that means that He is loving us as His own children.
