One of the year's most anticipated films, BLADE RUNNER 2049, directed by ARRIVAL's Denis Villeneuve, and produced by Ridley Scott, is being hailed as "One of the greatest sequel's ever made". And while it may be, we're fairly certain some will exit scratching their heads and / or pissed as it may not be what they expected. BLADE RUNNER 2049 more deeply explores the philosophical / totemic elements of Phillip K. Dick's sci fi universe far greater than other films such as TOTAL RECALL, MINORITY REPORT, THE MAN IN THE HIGH CASTLE and even Scott's original BLADE RUNNER. But whether that exploration is interpreted by viewers as pretentious or fascinating (we say the later) is a matter of, not unlike with Dick's characters themselves, perception, world view and the baggage the individual brings into the theater along with that tub of popcorn.
