On tonight's show: The Knee Jerks have a special guest tonight! We talk to former MLB Dave Pallone, who became the first openly gay umpire when he came out, and the author of the 1990 New York Times best-seller "Behind the Mask," which has recently been re-released. Pallone is best known for an incident in April '88, when he was pushed by then Cincinnati Reds manager Pete Rose while disputing a call. After Rose's ejection, Reds fans pelted the field with debris, and the game could only resume after Pallone left the field. The fracas resulted in Rose being suspended for 30 days. Pallone spent 10 years in the big leagues, starting when he was 1 of 8 umpires hired during the '79 MLB umpire strike. Pallone's career highlights include his working the '83 All Star Game, and the '87 NLCS. We'll discuss Pallone's life in baseball, his life after and the state of umpiring in MLB. You can learn more about Dave Pallone at his website, DavePallone.com. After we spend 45 minutes with Dave Pallone, we'll move on to our thoughts on the past week of Detroit sports. Expect Big Ten expansion, the Tom Izoo job watch, the last week of Tigers baseball, the Lions Louis Delmas and his 8 win prediction, and maybe even a little World Cup soccer (What's that buzzzzing noise? A vuvuzela!) to be on the night's agenda. We'll also name our respective Jerk of the Week at the end of the show! Be here at 7PM every Monday night for the latest and greatest in sports talk...sports talk with a Detroit attitude!
