When you think of a Vocalise, you think of one who is skilled above and beyond the average singer.  Everything from their tone, to pitch, to diction, to range far exceeds the normal capabilities of a person who uses their voice as their main instrument.

From the simple cafe on the corner to the massive, sold-out arenas and stadiums, Toni "Tj" Scruggs has been the most sought out Vocalise of our day.  With a 6+ octave range, a jazz scat that is Ella worthy, and a richness to her tone reminscent of days gone by when a singer actually sang, Tj has stood in, with, behind and for notables such as Chaka Khan, Raheem DeVaughn, Whitney Houston.  She has been in the hallowed trios found on the Grammys, Bet Honors, and American Idol.  She has had her face on the small screen in The Parenthood, and the Jumbotron supporting Mary J Blige. Her impromptu solo's have been some of the most watched on Youtube of all supporting vocalists, most notably her rendition of "Summertime" in the set with Lalah Hathaway in which you hear every high and low of her beautiful instrument in all of it's Glory. And most recently, you have been blessed by her soaring vocals on this season of "Dancing With The Stars"

Join me as I sit and talk with Tj about the industry for the support vocalist.  In the wake of "20 Feet from Stardom", the Oscar winning, highly acclaimed docudrama featuring the true pioneers of this craft, we will talk about how it is in the industry now versus then, what to expect when you are on the road, her future career  as a solo artist, writing ventures and more!

Call in!  She is also one of the most noteworthy vocal technicians in the game and we will have the lines open for questions!
