The United States Supreme Court has ruled before that " [c]itizenship has its responsibilities as well as its privileges, and in time of war the burden is always heavier." That message has always been a part of the conditions of U.S. citizenship, and yet we forget it often.

The price of being a citizen of the United States may not be seen as a higher burden than non-democratic nations which can imprison or burden its citizens on one man's command. But is that true when a democracy (a free nation) can legally and justifiably strip certain rights and dignities away by the vote of its elected officials?

Join your hosts as they explore the truth behind our independence. Are there moments when our freedoms can be taken away by the very democratic process which provided the freedoms, and which fights to give those freedoms to the world?
