At 71 he won the California State Senior Olympics in High Hurdles and was 5th in the entire US and 8th in the world. He beat the #1 hurdler in California at that time, by a mere 2/10ths of a second. John has been married to Donna (former Miss Alabama in the Miss Universe Pageant) his beauty queen and bride of over 52 years.
