Mark C. Brown has long been a student of enlightenment.

Of the title, he explains that living like a window means developing your ability to let go of even the most troubling thoughts, so that anything that comes into your mind passes easily out rather than intruding on your serenity. “An open window is simply a space through which anything can flow. This book shows you how to make that happen.”

He further explains that, where living like a window represents the “inner work” of enlightenment, working like a mirror is its external expression. “As a mirror you reflect everyone just as they are in the exact fashion that a mirror would.

Dr. Brown practices psychology and teaches meditation using EEG biofeedback, a method of biofeedback that records the brain’s electrical activity through sensors placed on the scalp and sends information to the brain to help it learn much more quickly. This exploits the brain’s natural inclination to work in a more efficient manner when provided feedback about its operation, and is a highly effective therapy for stress-related problems as well as a means of teaching meditation.
