Hannah Hawthorne is a cable news producer intent on covering the shooting of a NYU student. She hopes the story will prove her worth with a news company who has been critical of her in the recent past. The story balloons into a media circus, triggering gun rights protests and vigils for the fallen student. Hannah has regained favor with her boss, but the plot thickens. A murdered Hispanic teen is also found in the same park on the same night as the discovery of the white girl's body. Paulo, a reporter from a small online newspaper, delves into that story and quickly realizes that the two murders are linked, causing a stir of controversy within the community. Paulo and Hannah meet up and decide to cover the sensational story together, but when they discover the facts surrounding the murders, things heat up quickly. When they discover the man who might be the killer, they realize they could be at risk of losing their careers and their lives.
