Women in Leadership Series:Lessons in Mastery: Emergency Services and Non-profit Leadership

Saving lives, being there in disasters, providing emergency assistance to those who have experienced the most devastating of losses- it's all in a day's work to tonight's leader in her role at the helm of one of the oldest and most respected non-profit organizations in the world. Donna Duvin's career in non-profit management spans over 25 years, including an early Peace Corps assignment in the South Pacific and executive leadership roles with the Red Cross and several non-profits serving the needs of the most vulnerable. Today, Donna leads one of the most distinguished Red Cross units in the country. As the Regional Executive Director with the Washtenaw County Chapter of the Red Cross. Here in Michigan, Donna oversees an organization that trains more than 65,000 residents in life-saving skills, provides 97% of the blood products to the county's hospitals, delivers hundreds of emergency messages to loved ones in the military, shows up at house fires and other disasters with supplies for victims, firefighters and other first responders, and much more. With a paid staff of ten and over 700 trained volunteers, she engages and inspires others to do an incredible amount of good in this region, and is a model to other leaders, both women and men alike.
