Nicole & Terri will be interviewing Kathleen Whitbread, Ph D on the program today. Kathleen specializes in teaching children with intellectual and developmental delays how to read.

In todays schools, children who are unable to read are usually pulled away from the classroom and taught other skills. In doing so, the gap between the children who can read and can't read gets wider by the year. However, Dr. Whitbread has years of experience including children of ALL needs in the class reading program and providing the same educational experience for all students.

Kathleen is an Associate Professor of Education at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, CT, where she teaches graduate and undergraduate courses in special education. She is co-author, with Anne Eason, of the book IEP and Inclusion Tips for Parents and Teachers  published by Attainment/IEP Resources.
