The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. --Eleanor Roosevelt Michelle Shining Elk In 1998, as a side job, Michelle started her own business specializing in marketing communications and public relations, her first client the AMERICAN INDIAN FILM INSTITUTE and AMERICAN INDIAN FILM FESTIVAL. Michelle worked on a wide-range of projects, which ultimately made her a specialist in the entertainment industries that includes theatre, music, dance, film, television and fashion. Today, Michelle continues her work in marking communications and publicity as the president of her company SHINING ELK ENTERTAINMENT, INC. In casting, Michelle works with several of the top casting directors to get them in touch with Native talent ensuring that Natives are cast in Native roles as well as in non-descript roles. As a producer, Michelle works in film and theatre where she is currently co-producer on a full length feature film entitled THE LOST WARRIOR and she also serves as the publicist and consultant on GEORGINA LIGHTNING’S full-length feature OLDER THAN AMERICA, the documentary SAVING THE AMERICAN WILD HORSE and another full-length feature film entitled BLOOD INSTINCT. She has also created and will be producing a multi-media theatrical production that is slated to tour the United States and Canada in early 2010.
