Local, national and international leaders will be honored at this year's 26th annual Black Heritage Awards, Sunday, April 28, 2024, 5pm to 9pm at the Chicago history museum, 1601 N. Clark Street in Chicago. The event, sponsored by the Mahogany Heritage Foundation, will honor outstanding leaders such as Congressman Danny K. Davis, Mayor Brandon Johnson, business owner and philanthropist Spencer Leak, publisher, Olawale Idris, and a number of other prominent figures both past and present . Mary Swopes, Founder of the Mahogany Heritage Foundation, joins us today to talk about the necessity of recognizing those  that bring dignity and honor to the history and culture of Black people.
