Nancy Turco, Executive Director of Arden Courts of Austin, discusses how to choose an assisted living community including important questions to ask, features to look for, and signs it might be time to move mom or dad to an assisted living community. She also explains what being "Alzheimer's Certified" means in the state of Texas, what "Sundowning" is, costs and payment options. Nancy also explains the differences between an assisted living facility, an ALF that also provides memory care, and those that provide memory care "exclusively'.

Nancy Turco has been working for Arden Courts for more than 12 years. For the past 3 years she has been the Executive Director. Prior to that she was the Senior Program Services Coordinator.  Nancy is the Ambassador for the Alzheimer’s Association, Capital of Texas Chapter, and also the Ambassador of Alzheimer’s Texas, an organization in Austin. She has attended the National Alzheimer’s Forum in Washington, DC for the past 6 years, and also the US Against Alzheimer’s Forum in Washington, DC. Nancy has a certificate in Gerontology from the State of Texas, having studied the Mental, Physical, and Social Aspects of Aging and she frequently speaks at seminars/events in the Texas area including: The Texas Women’s Conference, Leading Age of Texas Conference, and AGE of Texas Symposium.  She is a moderator of 3 family support groups.
