Join us and our special guest Deborah Guerrero, co-founder of Turtle Women Rising. She will share her incredible story about a special drum that was gifted to her at a gathering several years ago. Deborah, who is Tlingit, Snohomish, and Cowlitz, is a social worker at Muckleshoot Indian Child Welfare in Auburn Washington. Ms Guerrero is an activist and community organizer who serves as a Board of Director for several Indian Organizations in Seattle. As a ceremonialist, she has a deep passion for Traditional Indigenous Healing ways. Deborah is an active member in the Native American Church and is co- founder of Turtle Women Rising. In October of 2008 in Washington, DC a spiritual gathering led by Turtle Women Rising founder Eli Painted Crow and co-founder Deborah Guerrero put the call out and hundreds of people together for four days to drum for peace. A large and powerful sacred Grandmother Drum was played continuously bringing fourth the prayerful heartbeat sound that resonated throughout and touched the hearts of many. There were tipis and a sacred fire for ceremonies where offerings and prayers were made. This gathering happened on the National Mall near the Washington Monument. The 13 Indigenous Grandmothers from all over the world joined Turtle Women Rising, spoke, prayed, shared their energy and wisdom. This October from the 8th through the 11th, Turtle Women Rising along with the Prayer Vigil for the Earth and the 13 Indigenous Grandmothers will converge on the National Mall by the Washington Monument to honor the Ancestors. The mission of Turtle Women Rising is to gather the feminine energies of all life. To call upon the elders, mothers and daughters of the earth. To see our brothers and sisters, our friends and lovers ready to answer the call. It’s all about you, it’s all about us, and together it is “We" - Imagine how powerful this can be, listening to our heartbeats growing strong.
