Accountability is about sustainability. Without accountability you have no future. Productivity is undermined. Productivity is sporadic and unpredictable.

When I hear the word accountability it has a negative connotation like consequences are being assigned. But when we want to hold people accountable – we shouldn’t focus on after the fact but at the beginning because accountability is about ownership. Although you can assign a task or project – ownership is how it is embraced.

My mentor taught me that a great leader doesn’t motivate people but removes the obstacles that stand between them and their motivation – that translates to accountability as well. We are all capable within the bring ownership which is in my opinion the only kind of accountability that is productive.
