Human trafficking is the modern form of slavery, with illegal smuggling and trading of people, for forced labor or sexual exploitation. In the U.S., human trafficking tends to occur around international travel-hubs with large immigrant populations, notably California and Texas. The U.S. Justice Department estimates that 17,500 people are trafficked into the country every year, but the true figure could be higher, because of the large numbers of undocumented immigrants. This week on The C. Nathaniel Brown Show, we attack the issue with guests Yewande Austin, Kodisha Taylor, and Leslie Drake. We also hear from Daphne McQuarter, a mother who rescued her daughter from a near tragic situation and now helps others.
