Gabriel De Los Reyes is an emerging artist with talents in the Hip Hop and Production Field. He is currently acting in Shakespeare Miami’s “Merchant of Venice”. He has graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison off a full-ride scholarship for his artistic talents. Born in Sacramento, CA and raised in Miami, FL, Gabriel is one of the most diverse, undeniable rising forces in the Hip Hop community. Before working with the First Wave Hip Hop Theatre Collective at the University of Wisconsin – Madison, the first scholarship program of its kind in the world, Gabriel was a leader and pioneer for the youth poetry movement in Miami. Gabriel has won the city's Poetry Slam 3 years in a row ('06, '07, '08). In 2006, he was the Inaugural Poet for the Miami Beach Art Season showcase at the Jackie Gleason Theatre. Gabriel was also a finalist Slam Champion in both the International Brave New Voices competition in 2005, as well as a Slam Champion at the Collegiate Poetry Slam in 2008. He has performed his work on radio stations, from Miami's Power 96 to California's KDAY, the latter which was for the annual Rock the Bells Hip Hop Festival. A recent ad campaign prospect for Fathead, Gabriel has opened up for Def Poets Rives, Shihan the Poet, and Beau Sia, as well as musical acts Wale, Fat Joe, and Ludacris. He has also DJ’ed for poet Lemon Andersen. Incorporating his showman skills as a Poet, MC, Beat Boxer, and DJ, at 20 he entered into the Hip Hop theatre world, premiering an excerpt from his one man show "The Wheelz" at the 9th Annual Hip Hop Theatre Festival held in New York City. Gabriel was also recruited to participate in the Contacting the World Theatre Festival in 2010, held in Manchester, UK, performing ensemble works he co-wrote on. Now 26, Gabriel has 370 songs prepared and is performing around Miami.
