Join us on Friday, Jan. 4 at 11 a.m. Eastern when our guest on Studio SPJ will be documentary film maker Bernardo Ruiz.
 
Ruiz has a new film called "Reportero" which follows a veteran journalist and his colleagues at Zeta, an independent  weekly newspaper in Tijuana, where practicing journalism can be a life-threatening profession.
 
The film is scheduled for a national broadcast on PBS stations on Jan. 7.
 
Ruiz, a dual U.S./Mexico citizen who lives in Brooklyn, previously directed and produced "American Experience : Roberto Clemente"  (PBS, 2008) which won the ALMA award for Outstanding Made for Television Documentary.
 
He will be interviewed by Ricardo Sandoval Palos, the chair of SPJ's international journalism committee.
