Jan. 15, 2015, 10pm (PST) - The Roll of the Media: A Roundtable Discussion

In the 14 months Spaced Out Radio has been on the air, one topic that has come up, when it comes to the paranormal, supernatural, ufological, extraterrestrial, and conspiratorial, is the roll today's main stream media plays in reporting it.

Many in this field tend to believe that the reason television, radio stations and newspapers do not broadcast or print much of anything on these topics is because they're asked not to. It's a conspiracy that many believe has legs. The reasoning, because if you can control what the press broadcasts or prints, then you can control the message to the people, who won't get to know the truth about what's really going on.

So we've brought in some very important media people to discuss this topic on a roundtable format.

Bruce Claggett has worked in newsrooms across British Columbia. Right now, he is an Senior Editor for one of the largest radio broadcasting news rooms in Western Canada. Stationed out of Vancouver, Bruce has covered everything from murders to politics to organized crime and more. His 20+ years experience as a journalist helps him fully understand how media works.

Jim Malliard, host of the popular on-line radio show, The Malliard Report, is all too familiar with how the media treats stories like the ones he broadcasts. Jim has been broadcasting TMR for more than five years. He has seen some pretty incredible stories that get pushed under the rug by the main stream. He also knows first hand how many treat people in the fields noted above.

James Tyson, host of Spaced Out Weekend, joins the panel as well. James comes into this conversation with an interesting standpoint as he's now a broadcaster, but he's also a long standing member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. In Jim's tenure as a police officer, he's worked on cases from missing persons to serial killers.
