DECLINE AND FALL OF AMERICAN EMPIRE

Events are moving faster in the Mideast than most people can adjust their assumptions about American plans for Empire building. Most people assume that Obama has made serious errors in strategy that they more often than not assume he developed. They regard the collapse of the strategy for a direct attack on Syria as due to his hubris, not realizing that the reason that he often seems like GW Bush II is that the plans for reshaping the Mideast were drawn up long before he even became a senator. 

If Obama was merely following a script, it appears that he may now be making decisions based on the recognition that the neocon plan for world domination is falling apart. His decisions led to standing down on Syria, intentionally or not. However, his outreach to Iran is a direct rejection of the neocon plan he was following until then. It represents a challenge to the right wing policies of the Israeli government, the Sauds and the war hawks in the US of both parties. A major realignment in alliances appears possible. The question is, is this a genuine shift in policy away from Empire building or just a new strategy to achieve the same objectives?
