Goddess Alive Radio is delighted to welcome the inspirational teachers and authors Vicki Noble and Miriam Robbins Dexter to talk about their new book: ForeMothers of the Women's Spirituality Movement - Elders and Visionaries. The book is a lush offering with contributions from the women who laid the foundations of Women and Goddess Spirituality and have continued to nourish and inspire so many of us on our own paths.

In the early ‘70s, women began researching ancient worldwide Goddess-based cultures and to create circles of women’s ritual.  This seeming explosion of creative religious expression on the part of contemporary Western women is the thematic focus of this book; the 33 chapters are the individual stories of the movement’s founders in their own words.

Miriam Robbins Dexter holds a Ph.D. in ancient Indo-European languages, archaeology, and comparative mythology, from UCLA.  She has written scholarly journal and encyclopedia articles as well as books: Whence the Goddesses: A Source Book (1990) and Sacred Display: Divine and Magical Female Figures of Eurasia (2010) (winner of the ASWM Sarasvati book award in 2012).

Vicki Noble is an artist, healer, and independent scholar, a foremother of the Goddess movement in the U.S. She co-created Motherpeace Tarot (1981), and authored eight books, including Shakti Woman: Feeling Our Fire, Healing Our World (1991) and The Double Goddess: Women Sharing Power (2003) published in Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, German, and French. She travels and teaches internationally; she is a professional astrologer and teaches private tutorials in Santa Cruz.
