Mississippian Leadership Reunion

Farmers, Community Advocates and others are applying leadership acumens learned through the Small Farmer Agricultural Leadership Institute to promote change in rural America and influence policies to enhance opportunities for sustainability.  This phenomenal institute launched on the heels of America’s worst natural disaster Hurricane Katrina in 2005, however, perseverance and resiliency brought together individuals from across 13 southeastern states with a common goal and desire to provide quality leadership. A competent team of 1890s Extension Leaders challenged class members to develop comprehensive plans of actions to change life’s normal mundane with innovated strategies to propel a healthy generation of individuals.  Each class participant underlined issues affecting their individual community such as school dropout, health, hopelessness, joblessness, and other negative social factors. The first leadership class culminated in March 2007 with more than 20 graduates receiving firm instructions of going forward to make a positive difference in rural communities through lessons learned at the Small Farmer Agricultural Leadership Institute. Mississippi leadership graduates will share together on Tuesday June 25, 2013, 2-4pm at Ryan’s Family Steak House 436 Riverwind Drive Pearl, MS. We look forward to a grand celebration according to Class-2 member Daisy Garrett-Campbell of Jackson, MS.” The Small Farmer Agricultural Leadership Institute afforded an avenue of life’s long relationships to help thrust change for the betterment of humankind.
