The Harlem Globetrotters are a worldwide icon, synonymous with family entertainment & great basketball. They've showcased their talents in 122 countries on 6 continents. Richard hosts Globetrotters star Slick Willie Shaw.  There was a basketball court across the street from the house where Slick Willie grew up, so he saw it as a sign, and he started playing the game at the age of 6.  “I would wake up early on Saturday mornings to be the first kid on the basketball court,” says Slick. “I would play full court by myself and fantasize about hitting game-winning shots and the crowd chanting my name. It was a great feeling.”  He gets the same rush when he steps on the floor with the Globetrotters. He was blown away when playing his first game ever with the Globetrotters. “It was at STAPLES Center in Los Angeles, it was sold out, and I will never forget how many celebrities were there. It was really an introduction to how many people love the Globetrotters.”

A four-year starter at St. John's University in New York, Slick helped lead St. John’s to the NIT Championship in 2003, and he is second on the school’s career list for made three-pointers. He’s a natural for the Globetrotters’ 4-point shot, their game-changing innovation that was first introduced in 2010. He’s also an outstanding ball handler; watch for him spinning two basketballs on his fingers in all different directions when the Globetrotters are performing their famous Magic Circle.  Slick has been to dozens of countries during his years with the Globetrotters and has seen some incredible things, like the Eiffel Tower and the Great Wall of China, and he’s had the honor of entertaining U.S. troops on the Globetrotters’ annual holiday military tour. The Globetrotters are appearing in Los Angeles at the Staples Center for two shows Sunday February 19th.
