Jamal Ahmad is a father, entrepreneur, activist, leader, and advocate for foster children. Born in Los Angeles, California, Jamal lived in over eight different foster homes and attended six different schools, due to parental neglect and changes in placement for foster care. When emancipated, he was unaware of all the different programs that could have aided him, such as housing and school programs, and funding for household essentials. However, in spite of all of his struggles, he sought to inspire and support others in his community with similar challenges.

In 2012, Jamal started Foster Care Connect, to create a resource for those in foster care. Through Foster Care Connect, he has sponsored several community events such as basketball tournaments, gift give-aways and helped get resources to families in need.

Jamal aspires to make Foster Care Connect much more than a resource, but a community, a fellowship, and a place for foster kids to stay connected in order to be family...
