It is not everyday that we have an opportunity to talk with a history maker!  The Reverend Prebendary Rose Hudson-Wilkin holds the historic title as the 79th Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons and is the first woman and the first person of color to serve in this capacity.

Born in Montego Bay, Jamaica, she was only 14 years old when she acknowledged her call to the ministry.   She was ordained a priest in 1994, in the first year that the Church of England accepted female ordination. Remaining at St Matthew's Church, she served her curacy from 1994 to 1995.

On August 1, 2015, The Reverend Prebendary Rose Hudson-Wilkin was honored by the Jamaica Cultural Alliance (JCA) in Los Angeles, CA with the JCA Trailblazer Award.  On August 2, 2015, she also participated in the closing ceremonies of the 2015 Special Olympic World Games at the historical Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
