The ESPY award show, presented by ESPN, debuted in epic proportion with an emotional speech by Jimmy Valvano. This speech has become one of inspiration and hope for many people. The V foundation was formed in 1993 to help support cancer research. Since the speech, the ESPY awards have had their ups and downs when it came to ratings. Like any show or series, the luster wears off and it becomes just another show. Although, the 2016 ratings were down from 2015, this could be considered the runner-up as the best ESPY show ever.

Carmelo Anthony, Dwayne Wade, Chris Paul, and LeBron James executed a great start to the show. With the recent gun tragedies, these four athletes went out of the way to bring awareness to violence. They didn't do it as a publicity stunt, but looked into their souls and gave a heartfelt cry to end gun violence. LeBron James, who would be a big award winner, referenced looking in the mirror to see what we could do.

Craig Sager was presented with the Jimmy V Award for Perseverance and wiped away his own tears after watching the video tribute to his battle with leukemia. One of many powerful quotes from the speech `Time is not something that can be bought, it cannot be wagered with God, and it is not an endless supply. Time is simply how you live your life.'

What were your thoughts on the 2016 ESPY awards? Was there a memorable moment that will remind you of this award show?
