Pilots N Paws. Doesn't that just have an awesome ring to it?

It gets even better. Pilots N Paws is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that connects volunteer pilots with shelter animals needing transport to forever homes across the country. While Pilots N Paws doesn't organize or arrange these transports, it does provide a common forum online for those involved to schedule and arrange flights, overnight foster care or shelter, and other related activites. The organization is officially based in Landrum, South Carolina, but has volunteers nationwide.

ABOUT KATHLEEN QUINN

Kathleen Quinn is executive director for Pilots N Paws. She has been volunteering with the organization since its launch in February 2008. In her new staff role, she will design, develop and implement strategic plans to grow Pilots N Paws, which includes a focus on fundraising and social media.

A 2008 graduate of Miami University, Kathleen earned degrees in business, entrepreneurship, and American studies. She graduated from Georgetown University with a master's degree in journalism. While in D.C., Kathleen also served as a congressional intern.

As a child, Kathleen had aspirations of one day becoming a veterinarian. "Although we lived in the suburbs, growing up, our house resembled a mini petting zoo. Amongst the critters were gerbils, dogs, a cat, box turtles, a salamander, a hermit crab, even chicks we hatched from an incubator. Across the street from was the Metropark animal nature center, so I was always rescuing wounded wildlife and takem them across the street to be rehabilitated."
