Domestic Violence "My Shining Knight"

He was my knight in shining armor, my husband, the father of my children.  A man I believed did not have a cruel bone in his body.  After all, he was a police officer, sworn to protect and serve.  

What do you do when your knight becomes a monster and  he is suppose to be one to protect and serve the community and keep people from harm?  Why is it that people seem to change once you are emotionally connected. 

After coming through an abusive relationship how do you get to a place to open your heart and try to love again?
