Making Spiritual Connections: Father's Day & The Summer Solstice

Father’s Day occurs a few days before the Summer Solstice. Melding both days together helps us explore masculine, feminine and non-binary energies. Combining masculine parenthood, the feminine divine and gender fluid concepts works because the solstice is actually the moment when the sun peaks in the sky, the Earth and Sun join cosmic energies, leading to abundance that is harvested, enjoyed, and preserved.

Ripe fruits symbolize the solstice and we honor the earth when we include them in recipes and rituals. It is a time of relationship, balance and connection, sexuality and fertility.

Father’s Day can carry baggage- with difficult/absent relationships with our fathers or if fathering is challenging. Parenthood for some fathers may come with a reckoning of internal/external masculine, feminine and other gender aspects.
