Nicholas Snow welcomes co-writers John-Paul Valdez and Alyce Anders.  "'The idea for Crossing Borders - A Memoir, was born of a virtual relationship," explains John-Paul Valdez, working on his story with celebrated transgender writer Alyce Anders.  They met online after John had read a series of Alyce's short stories that riveted local readers. Valdez explains, "Like Caitlyn Jenner, Alyce is transgender, crossing many transcendental borders herself. Together, we decided to write a book about adversity, empowerment, and eventual self-discovery."

Alyce adds, "When John-Paul approached me to help him write his memoir, I was struck by how our stories mirrored one another. Like myself, John-Paul often found himself living on the other side of the wall. A Mexican boy living in the Anglo world, a gay man dying of AIDS, a prisoner illegally detained in a foreign country. He went from abject poverty to unfathomable wealth, and then lost everything. But through it all, he found something of far greater value. He found himself."
