Joining Project Empowerment is Phillipa J. She is the Community Development Worker at Ipswich Women's Centre Against Domestic Violence. She leads a the community development program at the centre through a diverse set of local relationships, initiatives and projects that address domestic violence in the Ipswich and regional communities. Through a process of action and reflection IWCADV aims to help communities build their capacity for identifying and solving problems relating to domestic and family violence. The program involves IWCADV engaging with local people and participating in change by local people. IWCADV believes that responsibility for ending violence not only rests with perpetrators who use violence, but also with the whole community as the choice to use violence is generally supported by social systems and structures. Phillipa holds a BA in Peace and Conflict Studies and International Relations. She has a background in Disability Services, International Aid Organizations and has lived and worked in Indigenous communities in remote Australia. http://www.iwcadv.org.au/
