Joining Project Empowerment is Angela Shelton, an acclaimed filmmaker, writer, actress and public speaker. We will be discussing her multi-award winning documentary Searching for Angela Shelton. She interviewed other Angela Sheltons in an effort to survey American women and inadvertently put a spotlight on sexual abuse and began a grassroots movement of healing worldwide. Angela has spoken to Congress, universities, military bases, high schools, elementary schools, community centers, conferences and seminars nationwide and abroad. Due to the huge following and movement the movie created, Angela started the Survivor Manual that guides women (and men) toward healing and remove the trauma and live a self-empowered life. The United States Justice Department presented Angela with a certificate of appreciation for her hard work on behalf of crime victims. The mayor of Asheville, NC made April 29th Angela Shelton Day in honor of all abuse survivors. Angela has appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, Larry King Live, 48 Hours Investigates, NPR, Lifetime Television for Women and the cover of the New York Times. Angela’s memoir, Finding Angela Shelton, is mandatory reading in many Women’s Studies programs around the US. Angela became a Superhero for children in The Safe Side video series created by Baby Einstein’s Julie Clark. Angela won an Emmy for her performance as Safe Side Superchick. Angela leads a varied life, wearing many hats and creating constantly. She teaches women how to make money, she will guide you toward your inner geek. Angela does comedy and I teaches people how to cook. In her words, "I love my life and I share ways to love yours too. I believe that it is not about “I” at all, but that this life is a vehicle for service to inspire and empower others to lead full joyful lives. It’s my pleasure to share. I share what I know and my life is my teaching." http://angelashelton.com/
