This site originally began in 1996 as an outlet for my healing. After being raped in Chattanooga, TN while on the job, my husband and I discovered there was no local rape crisis center. This situation changed in July of 1996 when the doors opened at the Sexual Assault Crisis and Resource Center in Chattanooga. The support offered there was an enormous help to my healing. However, when my husband's job transferred us to a rural area over 150 miles away, regular contact with other survivors through a support group became almost non-existent. Thankfully, I was already involved with a good support group on the internet. Another member of the group was already building her website and suggested I try it as well. The rest, as they say, is history. In spring of 1996 Healerguide's Home Page was born. A few months, awards and saved lives later, the site was renamed to become the Rape Recovery Help and Information Page. When the domain was obtained, the name was changed one last time to become Hope For Healing .Org, It is now the premier source of information and support to survivors on the internet serving nearly 1 million hits yearly through it's page and message views in the chat rooms, forums and of course, the main site itself.
