Paying It Forward

It’s better to give than to receive.  That’s how Rachel Madison Harris lives.  She founded Let’s Help Kids in 2010 as a way to help kids whose families are having money problems.  LHK helps kids from kindergarten to sixth grade in Northern Virginia, Maryland and DC by meeting non-basic needs for children - providing them with special items or experiences that they may not otherwise receive.  While many worthwhile organizations exist to provide food, shelter and financial assistance to families who are struggling to make ends meet, LHK provides “the extras.”  In Rachel’s own words:

I started Let's Help Kids so that I could help other kids to be happy. If I "fill their buckets" then they will, in turn, fill other people's buckets. Pay it forward!

Rachel is 11 years old.  Assisted by her board, including Mom and Executive Director Jen Sterling, LHK has provided hundreds of area kids with happiness by granting wishes from birthday presents, bicycles, to Halloween costumes.
