It often seems like prescription medications are given out like candy.  Sometimes it seems like the doctors aren’t really listening, and after giving us less than five minutes of their time, they send us out the door with multiple prescriptions and bid us with the common farewell of “See you in three months!”

With an overburdened system, our veterans often take matters into their own hands and make their own decisions about the way they will take their medications or discontinue their use without a doctor’s supervision.  Everyone is unique and different and what works for one individual may not work for another.  Getting the right prescription and the right dosage is crucial to our combat veterans.

While under the influence of a medication, or lack thereof, often everyone around the patient likely has a better idea of how the medications are working than the patient himself understands.  Everyone needs to have someone working in a supportive role who will give feedback so that adjustments can be made and medications can be used effectively

Join us for VOW Talk Radio on Tuesday, September 18, at 7:00 PM EDT, as we discuss the pros and cons of prescription medications and the perfect storm that often brews from a cold turkey withdrawal.  Shawn Gourley of Military with PTSD will be joining us as we discuss our personal experiences with medications, withdrawals, and the turmoil that can ensue behind closed doors for our families.
