It is hard to believe it is already time for the kids to go back to school.  As summer winds down and we start sending our kids back into the classroom, we start to wonder and worry about how well our children will make the adjustment.

If your family has just been through a deployment, is currently living through a deployment, or you have one coming up in the near future, it is very likely that your children are going to have some struggles.

Perhaps you are the caregiver for a wounded warrior and things at home are always stressful.  Even though your children may not verbalize their feelings, there is a good chance that they will take their emotional concerns with them to school each day.

How can we help to make the transition for the new school year a smooth one for our children?  Just how much should we tell our child’s new teacher?  Join us as we discuss the challenges that come up with a new school year and what we need to know to make it a terrific year for our kids.  We will talk about this issue from the parent’s point of view as well as the teacher’s point of view.

Shawn Gourley of Military with PTSD joins Patti Katter and Beth Pennington for the discussion.
