Why was the Veterans Writing Project started? The simple answer is because it needs to be done. Many come back from Iraq and Afghanistan and have difficult with re-entry into the civilian world. Writing helps. Telling your story helps you get control of your story. Veterans Writing Project is run by combat veterans who have attended quality graduate writing programs and who want to help others tell their stories. They have been there. They know what returning veterans are going through and they speak their language.
