Campus Ghost Stories and Urban Legends

When it comes to the spread of ghost stories and urban legend, it seems that university and college campuses are a hot bed for tales of horror and suffering to grow. Almost every campus that I have ever visited has it's own ghost that haunts the library, suicidal student who will forever be preparing for exams or even lecture hall that it is impossible to get a passing grade in. But why here? What makes a campus so unique that these stories not only exist, but flourish?
