P2P's Global Health Forum welcomes Dr. Wondu iAlemayehu, one of the world's experts on eye diseases and blindness in Ethiopia.  Dr. Wondu obtained his M.D. degree and completed his ophthalmology residency at Addis Ababa University. He completed his fellowship in Preventive Ophthalmology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and School of Hygiene and Public Health, and served as a consultant medical specialist. Dr. Wondu has been a renowned leader in the efforts to eradicate trachoma in Ethiopia.  He has published dozens of peer-reviewed articles on trachoma in Ethiopia and established the first eye bank in Ethiopia to address the problem of corneal blindness. Dr. Wondu was the recepient of the International Coalition for Trachoma Control (ICTC) MacCallan Medal in 2014. He currently serves as a technical advisor to The Fred Hollows Foundation, a non-profit aid organization based in Australia focused on treating and preventing blindness worldwide.
