Anita became the first player in NCAA history, including men and women, to score 2500 points, 1000 rebounds and record 300 steals in a career. Following graduation, Anita played professionally overseas in Israel, Turkey and competed against other European country basketball clubs. She was drafted by and played for the Cleveland Rockers of the WNBA during the inaugural season. She is the first basketball player in NMSU history (male or female) to have her number retired (#40). She retired from playing professionally in 1999 when other interests began calling her to life beyond basketball.  She was drafted into NMSU’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2002.
