Luivette Resto was born in Aguas Buenas, Puerto Rico but proudly raised in the Bronx. Her first poetry book Unfinished Portrait was published by Tia Chucha Press in 2008 and was also named a finalist for the 2009 Paterson Poetry Prize. She is a contributing editor for Kweli Journal, a Canto Mundo fellow, and the hostess of a monthly poetry reading series called La Palabra located at Avenue 50 Studio in Highland Park. Her latest book Ascension just came out this March, also published by Tia Chucha Press.
