Luis Oliver is a painter and psychotherapist in Ottawa, Canada. He has a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa.

Artist Statement

I was born and spent much of my childhood in Uruguay, South America before emigrating to Canada.  I have no formal training in how to paint.  I started 2002 by simply picking up a brush and some acrylic paints and just diving in...  Painting has taught me about the unfolding of things, what that process looks like, how something we call beautiful can come from something we call ugly.  It has taught me about residing in the moment and flowing with journey and process rather than getting caught up in destination and product, about how to breathe and really see what's there, how your mind doesn't reflect reality, only a caricature of it.  About how we and Creation are one and the same, and the magic that can happen when we are able to let go and allow the emergence of beauty.
