No Child Left Behind was signed into law by George W. Bush in January 2002. The Act supports standards-based education reform based on the belief that setting high standards and establishing measurable goals can improve individual outcomes in education.
On the surface, this law appears to provide the answers to improving the quality of education for our children. But is that really the case? Have those who have authored this legislation taken in to account of the factors that effect education? Are our children truly benefiting as a result of this legislation?
This is the first of several discussions addressing the education system in the United States of America. In future discussions, we will explore how our education system can be improved, as well as schooling alternatives for our children.
