This episode is being rebroadcast from Michele’s original radio show, “Your Life After Trauma.”

The first really positive step Michele took toward her recovery came in the form of deciding to get a puppy. Mired in a deep depression and feeling overwhelmed by symptoms of PTSD didn’t seem like the right time to become a pet owner but she took the plunge and boy, was it the right decision!

Baylee and Michele met when he was just ten weeks old and they’ve been best buddies ever since. They’ve been through a lot together, including her complete recovery from PTSD. Having him around to mitigate the darkness (he’s fabulously funny and has a very emotional and interactive personality) brought a new light into her life that helped her begin to reach outside of her illness and find the necessary strength to heal.

This episode features three guests who discussed pets and their role in post-trauma recovery. Laura Westerfield, founder of Paws and People Assisting Wounded Warriors(ppaWWs), Nick Kutsukos of Elite K9 Academy in Jupiter and Janet Austin, joined Michele to discuss just how much pets can influence your healing journey.

Michele Rosenthal is a popular keynote speaker, award-winning author and post-trauma coach.
